WEINGARTEN RIGHTS
-
You have the right to union representation during a meeting with your administrator if you believe that it may lead to disciplinary action or a change in your working conditions.
Are you in a disciplinary or working conditions-related meeting without union representation?
Stay in the meeting, stop answering questions, start taking notes, and clearly state the following (repeating as necessary):
-
"If this discussion could in any way lead to my being disciplined or terminated, or affect my personal working conditions, I respectfully request that my site representative or a union officer be present at the meeting. Without representation, I choose not to answer any questions.”
-
Union representatives can support you by ensuring that the appropriate process is being followed during disciplinary action/working condition meetings with your administration.
